Fusing - Ceramic Fiber Products

There are a variety of high fire ceramic materials that have many uses for fusing, slumping and casting  applications. There are a number of advantages to using these materials; glass can be fired directly on them without the need of shelf primer, your glass will not pick up kiln wash and you have control over the finish on the back. They can be used to form or shape glass in a multitude of ways from drop molds to dams around thicker projects.
All of these products are made up of ceramic fibers and should be handled carefully and in accordance with their enclosed safety data sheets. Most of these products have a binder that burns off during the first firing. It is non-toxic but it sure smells like it is. Ventilation is recommended.
