Restoration
Northern Art Glass Inc. restoration project at St. Francis de Sales, Smith's Fall's
and Blessed Assumption Parish, Lombardy. Restoration of the heritage stained
glass windows at each church was carried out over several years. New memorial
windows, designed to match existing styles, were later commissioned.
Eight windows at St. Francis de Sales (size 54" x 17') fully restored over a three
year period. Originally fabricated in France by Meaujean Bros. they feature cast
jewels and chipped dalles. A complete new installation format was designed by
N.A.G. for these windows to
provide additional support and to separate the
leaded glass from the exterior glazing to prevent a heat build up. All ventilator
windows at the bottom were restored to full operation.
More than 20 other windows at St. Francis were restored during the course of
this project. New exterior glazing with proper venting was designed by N.A.G.
to safeguard the newly restored stained glass windows. Installed by Fendor
Glass and Aluminum, Ottawa.
